Dear Mr. President,
We, the undersigned Poles living in the United States, wholeheartedly support your recent remarks at the NATO meeting in Warsaw, in which you expressed your concern with the recent policies implemented by the Polish government that undermine Poland’s democratic and constitutional framework. In particular, we are alarmed at the government’s deliberate paralysis of the Constitutional Tribunal, politicization of public news media, and disregard for the Constitution. We agree with what you said, and with the way you said it. We welcome your reference to the long friendship between the United States and Poland, and to the successes of Poland’s democracy, constitutionalism and rule of law over the past quarter-century. We are dedicated to exactly those same values, and we thank you for standing up for them.
